  • Aspirin 81mg BID (twice daily)-  this is given after surgery to decrease risk of blood clots aka DVT

  • Zofran (odansetron) 4mg every 8 hours - this medication is used after surgery to decrease nausea

  • Colace BID (twice daily) - used for constipation.  Often pain medication can cause constipation

  • Prednisone taper dose pack - A steroid used to decrease inflammation.  It starts by taking pills 3 times a day, then tapering down to 1 pill once a day.  In diabetics it can raise your blood sugars so be sure to monitor them.  It is also known to affect peoples mood in many ways (manic, happy, sad, and others) 

  • Mobic (meloxicam) 15 every day - This is an anti-inflammatory, an NSAID.  It is similar to Advil, Motrin and Aleve.  Mobic is used to treat arthritis and decrease inflammation.  Do not take any other NSAIDs such as Advil, Motrin or Aleve with this.  Too many NSAID's can damage your kidneys and result in stomach ulcers.

  • Tramadol 3 times a day - This medication is a controlled substance similar to narcotics. It is used to treat pain. Unlike narcotics, Tramadol has a very little abuse potential.  It contains sulfa, so people with sulfa allergies should not take it.  It is ok to take Tylenol (acetaminophen) and NSAIDs (ibuprophen, Aleve)

  • Percocet - This is a controlled substance (narcotic). It is a combination of of oxycodone and acetaminophen.   Oxycodone is the narcotic and is used for pain.  Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol.  While taking Precocet, be sure not to take any medications containing Tylenol or acetaminophen

  • Norco- This is a controlled substance (narcotic).  It is a combination of of hydrocodone and acetaminophen.  Hydrocodone is the narcotic and is used for pain.  Acetaminophen is the active ingredient in Tylenol.  While taking Precocet, be sure not to take any medications containing Tylenol or acetaminophen
